a very special event on our doorstep

The week commencing Saturday 14th June promises to be an exciting one for our lovely medieval parish church, St Andrew’s: On June 21st there will be a Concert for the Summer Solstice featuring original compositions by  well-known Roger Eno (brother of Brian Eno)  in collaboration with Jon Goddard.   The event is styled ‘Phosphorescence’, an overarching term conveying the quality of radiant light that occurs in the church at different times of day, especially the shadowy light of early evening and which stimulates ‘seeing’, both literally and spiritually. A series of art installations by Gill Dove will be on view,  the artwork  an entirely fresh response by Gill to the ancient feel of the environment.   Her work can be viewed to the accompaniment of an aleatoric sound installation by Roger Eno, inspired by East Anglia (and in particular its churches).   This is a very special opportunity to experience an installation that allows Roger’s music, previously ‘exhibited’ in the prestigious venues of Salthouse, Snape Maltings and Tate Britain, to be played in situ. The exhibition will be held in the church daily from 14th to the 22nd June between 12 noon and 8pm.  Lots more about the musicians & artist on www.westhallspecialevents,wordpress.com from where you can also buy tickets
